magazine covers part 2

Mother's Magazine from 1844 is an example of a third kind of cover that was common in the first two centuries of magazines,the symbolic cover. It uses a generic illustration in a symbolic manner to evoke the spirit of the publication, without revealing any of this issue's specific contents.

The magazine picture might be seen as telling the readers of Mother's Magazine that they are the foundation, the pillars, the unifying arch, the source and fountain, the life, and the instructor of their families. All of those implications can be reasonably found in its stylized picture, if you remember that earlier generations customarily read the Bible, and pictures, as allegorical messages requiring active interpretation. this is way different from what kind of magazine covers we have now. ex: 

i feel like now we focus on fashion and whats going on in the media. in most magazine covers there will always be a person rarely ever an object or a drawing. there is lots of writing in it to,the magazine is usually covered up with all the topics in the magazine there will never be a close to blank magazine cover.

4. Crop Tool - crop tool is to cut out a picture at the length you want to use

5. Lasso Tool- lasso tool is to select a specific part of the picture 

6. Text Tool- text tool allows you to add text to your picture

7. What buttons do you push to "Undo" a mistake you made?
 the command button and the Z key to undo something

8. What can you open to "undo" more than one mistake? How do you open it?
 any mistake you may have to pull up the history palette

9. How do you rotate an image?
 a picture you simply go to the image menu and select image rotation

10. If you don't like the initial cropping box you drew, how can you change it before you make your crop? Initially you are telling photoshop which dimensions the image should result in after you crop you will be forced into certain ratios

1. Explain what happened to the man that was killed by the subway and how the photographer was able to take the photo. 
man was run over by a New York subway train after being shoved onto the tracks by an unidentified assailant. photographer says he had taken out his camera and snapped pictures of Han's (victim) final moments in an effort to alert the coming train's driver with his flash that something was wrong. 


2. Why did the photographer say he took the photo? it was unintentional,he took out his camera and snapped pictures of Han's (victim) final moments in an effort to alert the coming train's driver with his flash that something was wrong. 

3. Do you think the photographer should have taken the photo? in my opinion,i think the photographer should have rushed to help the guy who had fallen into the tracks or at least done something else to alert the driver of the subway. 

4. Do you think the photographer did the best thing he could have done in this situation? Why or why not? i don't think the driver did the best that he could because there was plenty of other ways he could've helped alert the driver instead of only using his camera which could've easily been mistaken by someone actually taking a photo. 

5. Do you agree or disagree with the decision to run the photo on the front page of the New York Post? Explain why or why not. i don't think they should have ran the photo on the front of the new york post,they should've known a lot of people were bound to be appalled by it,and wouldn't have liked it at all. 

6. What is more important to a photojournalist, capturing images of life as it happens or stopping bad things from happening? Why or why not? it all depends on what kind of person the photojournalist is,if it cares about the fame a photo will bring him then of course he or she would snap a picture first.

7. Do you think it is ever ethically acceptable for a photographer to involve himself/herself in a situation that he or she photographs? Explain why or why not.  i don't think its very ethical acceptable because as a person its just cruel to witness something that can be stopped. 

8. Should photojournalists always avoid influencing events as they happen? Explain your answer. yes,it would be a way better world if a lot of things would've been put to stop. 


9. After reading the responses from the professional photographers, what stands out as the most appropriate response for a photographer to this situation. i think its best if the "person" in a photographer came out and put a stop to whatever a bad situation is instead of snapping a picture of it.
